A few words about us
Our story…
Retro Boutique Hotel & Restaurant is a familiar place, full of positive energy, a gracious style and a lot of history. Ideally located in the historical center of town, it is close to the Radu Serban memorial house, to the park of Constantin Poroineanu and to the Water Tower.
When built in 1881, the house belonged to a senator of the county Romanati, by his name Teodor Bancu, after which it was sold in 1902, to the Romanian state and was repurposed several times. Nowadays, the manor is fully renovated and has been awarded 5 stars. No doubt this is the most comfortable and lavish boutique hotel in the area.
Lay back and enjoy the story of Retro, contoured and spiced by the original artworks of the owner’s private collection and by the harmonious mixture of the new and the old.
Restaurant, Pub, Wine Cellar & Hotel
All in one place.
The restaurant complements the hotel, welcoming up to 60 guests in 2 dining rooms: Retro and Romanati. For private parties, wine tastings and events, we invite you to our Retro Wine Cellar, a space reminiscing the old times of the haiduci (local outlaws of a ‘Robin Hood’ spirit) and enticing you to taste traditional local recipes.
In the hotter seasons, you can equally enjoy the fresh aroma of linden flowers and lavender on our terrace, where we also provide a children’s playground. While they enjoy the games and the paintings of favorite cartoon characters, you can explore the variety of our local and international menu. We hope that your visit here is a gastronomic experience you will not easily forget. All these made possible by our professional friendly young staff.
